After our elegant dinner at the Municipal House restaurant, "the most beautiful Art Nouveau restaurant in the world", Karol and I went downstairs to a beautiful little hall that was once a wine cellar) and heard Mozart and Handel accompanied by ballet and opera by 2 couples in traditional 17Century garb. Earlier that day, on our tour through this amazing building, we were told that this cellar became a small dance hall and the small stage at one end was where the couples of Prague would dance to the wild sounds the Charleston and other swing jazz greats. The band was always on the floor below them. At the other end of the hall there was a strage plaque above the door showing 2 naked men with monkey heads. Our guides said that each country has it's own metaphor for being drunk. In England you become a skunk (drunk as a skunk). In the Czech lexicon if you drink too much you will look like a monkey - too true.
